View Full Version : RIO pumps
Could anyone tell me how RIO's (or any other non-ehiem pump) compare to Ehiems for noise????
I am a cheapskate but still want a silent pump:D

Indeed we would http://forums.overclockers.co.nz/images/icons/icon14.gif
Chuck up a thread in cooling about it :)
No idea about the noise levels of the pump, but i am under the assumption that most pumps are fairly quiet as long as there is no air in them, as that is a major cause of pump failure and noise......
Failure over the long term that is.
The air causes cavitation which makes shocks and bla bla bla bla bla makes it go byebye
Also, pumps vibrate, so insulating them from the case with a mousepad, or something to reduce the vibration would help out a lot too....
Personally i'd rather spend the extra dosh and get an eheim.
More peace of mind.
I wouldn't skimp on a heatsink fan ;)
Same (sorta) thing applies here.....

I've got a Rio 1300 at the moment, but I'm waiting for my Eheim to turn up. I'll let you know how they compare.
