I've just got my hands on a celeron 400,

how hot can I run this thing? I've never had much to do with intel stuffs, anyone got a clue to the sorta normal running temps of it and how hot I can get it with out too much damage being done?

The general idea is that I want to run it with just a big heat sink and a 120mm case fan pushing down onto it from the top (it's a slot 1)

my server is a celery 450 with a big ass heatsink on it cooled by an 80mm fan at 5v.. and it stays cold as...i think a 120mm will be a tad overkill ;)

Celeron 400 A Results....

Total Entries in Database for Celeron 400 A - 402
Average overclocked speed - 542 Mhz

Go to www.overclockers.com and look at their CPU Database..

errr ragnor.. i think he was asking about heat.. not what it can overclock too ;) In saying that.. some of the comments may mention temperatures...

Yeah perhaps he is... I'm a bit rusty after all that downtime :o

You are not really gonna need a 120mm fan if you're not overclocking it.

But...

a 120mm Sanyo Denki ($10 from the magpie manor guy on trademe) running on 5 Volts, in the side panel centered over the HSF.. Nice and quiet, good air flow..

That's a good option.

hows about a solitary 120mm cooling both cpu and psu ;)

oh no.. i've said too much

The idea of the 120mm fan was more of a look thing, big arse fan cooling it from the outside,

as for the powersupply, that's not a bad idea at all... /me starts thinking...

just so long as the celeron isn't going to get too hot, I put a big arse hs & fan on it, but it's just a tad too noisy to have it running 24/7 like I want to.

12v 120mm fan running on 5 volts or 7 volts makes it near silent but it still has decent enough air flow.
