Ok,

I have an TMC MI5VP4 ver 1.1 motherboard and a seagate 1.7GB HDD,

The HDD works on my computer (ASUS A7V266EX)
Other HDD's work on that TMC mobo.

BIOS on TMC detects the HDD fine and fast.

But when I try to boot up, it doesn't work, eg, boot up with win98/me/95 boot up floppy and it says that the HDD doesn't exsist, and can't create partitions with Fdisk.

I flashed the bios
I changed the cables around
I tried different settings, master/slave, pri/sec etc,

What am I doing wrong?

other 400MB HDD works on the computer, but the 1.7 doesn't wan't to on that particular machine,

why, oh why? :(

Grrr!!

I think you would've checked this, but it doesn't have an NTFS partition does it?

yep, formated into fat32 on my ASUS board,
works fine in there,

SP suggested that I try maybe 80 pin IDE cable, so I'll do that when I get some time.

Try using the Seatools utility to set the HDD up. If it doesn't detect with that, try setting the CHS manually in BIOS.

not familiar with that board but if it is real old it might not be able to address partitions of that size??? .... maybe try a partition under 540Mb and see if it works??

ok, that's a good idea,

CHS selection didn't help.

thanks, I'll try all this stuff now.
