i couldnt decide whether to put this in videocards or motherboards so i put it here.
I have a Ga-7n400-L1 mobo and a fx5600 256mb video card both of which are definately agp 8x products.
however in the nvidia drivers it says the card is on the pci bus which i guess is normal but in pcmark 04 it says that it is running on agp 4x now i have tried all i can think of to get it back to 8x but there is no option in bios just options for 4x or auto, (currently it is on auto)
any ideas

You need to go to advanced bios, I think its ctrl+f1 in bios, though it could be ctrl+f2.
Silly gigabyte.

yes i do know about the advanced bios, but even when that is enabled the only setting for agp is 4x or auto and as i said earlier when it is on auto pcmark says it is running at 4x agp

AGP 4X or AGP 8X at current doesn't make much difference in performance...

I should take more care and know what the heck I'm talking about before I post. I should also use Word to spell and grammar check posts I make, because I’m not so hot with my written communication skills. I should do this so I don't look like a complete homofag tard.

well according to gigabyte, the bios explanation thing in the right hand panel of bios and the giant sticker on my northbridge (i think) heat sink my mobo has agp 8x, please explain how you came to the conclusion that my mobo did not have agp 8x?

Well the motherboard is definately advertised as able to do AGP 8x as seen here: http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-7N400-L1.htm
The video card certainly should be able to do 8x being of the FX range but it could be the card, what brand is it?
Things I would try (one at a time, try and isolate what the problem is):
1: Update mobo chipset drivers
2: Uninstall video card drivers, use driver cleaner, reinstall drivers (latest WHQL version of forceware from www.nvidia.com)
3: Reinstall Direct X 9.0b
4: Update mobo bios to latest (http://tw.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Support/BIOS/BIOS_GA-7N400-L1.htm)
5: Reinstall Windows (You might have to after the bios update anyway)
6: Try the card in another machine that you know is AGP 8x
7: Try another AGP 8x card in your machine

Cadmax, I edited your posts because they were so bad in terms of grammar, structure and making sense it wasn't funny.. plus your advice was plain wrong/misguided. I'm serious about using Word I think it would certainly help the quality of your posts.
If you continue to make really low quality posts with wrong/misguided advice I will continue to point this out to you. So please put a little more effort in ;)
