ATI 4.4 Cat's

I've just installed the 4.4 Cat's and now the properties for display settings and what not is calling my card a 9600XT Bravo.

I'm sure I don't have the bravo edition of the series of card ( I have a power color 9600XT ).

With the older 4.3 Cat's the property box said the card was a 9600 Pro.

Would it be that I have a better card than I think I do ( I think the bravo is clocked at the same speed as the regular 9600XT anyway?) or is it the drivers playing silly buggers.

Also is the overdrive funtion ment to work without fail or is just something that ATI put it and just hoped that every card could use it? With the 4.3's using overdrive would cause the game or bench mark too have VPU recover kick in. Haven't tryed the 4.4's yet but I'm expecting it too crash.

Well I just tried 3dmark 03 with overdrive on and it crashed 1second into the battal of thingi.

1. Reinstall the drivers using DriverCleaner from Driverheaven. Google it.
2. Overdrive only works on a small number of cards due to the temp sensors have to be a specific type.
3. Overdrive does squat. Only ups the Clock speed on the core where as a 9600XT is memory limited.
4. Try all those options then try 3dmark again. (I just got a 9600XT myself so Im working trough things to) :)

Tryed the driver cleaner, reinstalled 4.4 Cat's and tryed overdrive... VPU recover kicked in 38 seconds into the wings of fury bench mark.

Oh well I guess my card can't handle the extra 27mhz core speed.

The fella on the forums that works for the ATI driver department in Canada said that he only ever uses the ATI uninstall utility when developing/testing the drivers. I too only use that method and never have a problem. Sorry I can't be anymore help :(
