Hi,

The otherday whilst happily installing some cathodes trying the lights out and of corse surging power to the floppy. Until the psu stopped, I started it back up and smoke poured out of the floppy and melted half of the connector cable from the psu. Floppy is dead and I cut off the melted floppy power pin.

Now thats not all.

Just abut 30mins ago I wired up a 3pin header - molex header right, connected it up to my fan controller and smoke yet again to my new piece of hardware. Now the first channel is buggered and needs replacing wich thank god will only be $35.

And yeah I sure as hell hope to god I dont root my 9800pro somehow, im sure I can blow anything up.

Option A: Your PSU is ****ed.
Option B: You have the 5 and 12v lines mixed up somehow.
Mabye another option, but those are the two that come to mind.

Its not my psu (Antec Truepower 430w) as its brandnew.
Might have got the wires mixed up but im just glad im into breaking things under $40 and not graphic cards, cpu's ect.

Guess I will bite the bullet, can only learn from mistakes.

Just becuase its new dont assume that it's guilt free, it may have slipped through the testing points unchecked somehow.

If you wired it up according to the 2002-03 Dick Smith catalog, then the 12 and 5v are the wrong way round. I found out the hard way.. hard drive, cdrw and cdrom.
