asus cdrw problems, help please..

i have an asus crw-4824a and it wont read any cd's, the computer knows tat the drive is there but no matter what disk i try it wont read, i have already removed it and reinstalled it and i downloaded the latest firmware drivers but still no luck, any ideas or help would be great.

yeah me thinks the same thing, only problem is its a year old so i cant exactly do that haha, hafta buy a new one all together.

It could just be a dirty lens interfering with the laser... try picking up one of those cd cleaning kits/cd's, might be worth a shot. Otherwise new CDRW's are cheap thesedays.

Unless you got some warrentee left your outa luck.. i had the same problem had to buy another, which i then bought asus 52x (silly me), took about 6 months, till that crapped out,so i warrentied and they gave me a option of getting a sony cdr/ dvd for $10 so i took it.

that was about 4 months ago.. now.
If you want a elcheapo i would go for a Diamond data 48x, around $50 the last time i looked.
