The Good:
Ok after Much talk with the decision makers at CPIT (Christchurch Polytechnic), they have said yes to a LAN at CPIT.
The Bad:
CPIT students only :(
The Information:
The LAN will be a one day LAN (from morning to night), although this is a short LAN, it will be good for those of use that do not have a enough time to make it to big LANs such as sigma 2.
It will be held in the second week of the CPIT holidays (week commencing the 19th of April), no exact date has been decided yet.
There is NO entrance fee
There is room for a MAX number of 30 People
So it is not a big LAN and it is a short LAN, but like I said, it is good for those of use who don’t have the time to go to a 48 hour LAN ;)
For those who are interested please say so, so I can get an Idea on numbers (or if anyone will turn up at all ;) )
I will also be putting up some signs around polytech, to try and spread the "word" .

Yeah sweet i'll go.
But we need to get some more people going, I wanna play some good games.
You should plan like a little tournament for Zero Hour and BF:V, thats as long as there are a few people going.

Well just spread the word to anyone you know who goes to CPIT, and we should be sweet.
And we will be running a few mini tournaments, also we will be running 2 dedicated games servers to help make things go nice and smooth.
Ohh and BTW, If anyone here is planning on coming along, and has a spare switch (big or small), or can get a hold of one, please let me know, as the 32 port switch we were going to use has packed it in :(
But don’t worry if no-one has one, because I will sort something out ;)

Well things to bring are:
What ever you would usually take to a LAN.
And Your Polycard....
The Polycard is a MUST have, Because if you don’t have one, you wont be let in.
More information to come :)

Only students? That's not what they indicated last year. I'm not sure that's going to be worthwhile. Ask them if they realise practically everyone into lanning at tech is going to Sigma the weekend beforehand. That'll kill the core of their 'market' imho... they need to rethink.

Well, Chris has talked to the head of school (Jan Ross), and he has come back and said CPIT students only and NO charge.
But I can see why, You cant just have random people walking around CPIT, There is A LOT of very expensive equipment, and not much supervision (being in the holidays and all).
But I do believe we will get 20-30 people, as not everyone at CPIT can make it to SIGMA. (and no offence to SIGMA but not everyone can be bothered staying at a LAN for 48 hours ;) )
But It will be widely advertised around CPIT, so I am sure people will come.
But It would be great to see you the imdying :)
and it would also be great to see other OCNZ members form CPIT there. :)

Sounds good :)
i'ld be keen on a few games of zero hour and BF:V.
What networking gear will be supplied ? i can bring along a 8 port switch and enough cables for it that are at least 3m each

Well will be having a few tournaments of different games (definitely Zero hour and Battlefield Vietnam), we will be supplying 2 -3 servers, to be used to host the games)
You will need your own network cable (about 10 meters)
If you can’t get one, we may have a few spares on hand, or If you have a short one, just get there early to get close to the switch.
We are still looking for a good switch (32, or 28 port)
Currently we have 2-3 a port switches. So if you have one and are coming bring it just in case ;)
Will see you there :)

People who are coming or whatever, what are some of the games you recommend. I'll try to organise tournaments for some etc.
Zero Hour, Vietnam/BF1942/DC on the cards...
Suggestions please.
EDIT: Pandora Tomorrow Demo tournament is almost definately on the cards, teams of two. So you may wanna practice. It all depends on the day if people know how to play it.
