the single player demo of this game is out, looks pretty cool. You can control basically any vehicle from WW2 and online with up to 64 players, wonder how well it will play at lans eh

Yeh, From what I understand its like MOHAA (with similar characters and stuff) except you can use all the different vehicles like tanks, hum v's, planes etc....

Damn it another download and I haven't even got america's army yet. :D

Was meant to score it off of someone at L3#6 but totally forgot. I might have to see if I can't hang on and get them both at #7. :(

Man what a cool game. Nice open feilds too do a bit off tank battles on then when you breach there line into the little town for some street battles, got too love hiding up on a roof and waiting for a tank too drive past and boom no more tank. Few bugs but thats excepted in a demo. Looks like the making off a pretty cool game.

Well, I had to download the whole thing again. :D

But it rocks. Can't wait for multiplayer...

Yeah, I think this game will be a hit. The predesessor didn't recieve much attention (Codename Eagle). It was based on WW1, but this seems like it's gonna take off aye. hopefully it wont suffer the same fate Renegade did

Is 1942 kinda like Operation Flashpoint? I just loved Op Flash.
The ability to drive Jeeps and stuff in an 80's environment was cool, but it was difficult to handle a tank and stuff in Single player.

How do the gfx in 1942 compare to MOHAA?

I'm downloading the beta version which has the multiplayer parts. :)

Hopefully it isn't too bugie and I'll be able to go through and see what it's like.

****!

Damnit, you taunt me!

Gah, I wish I had broadband. :D

To be honest, the only real similarity to Flashpoint is the vehicles, while it looks similar (well, the GFX are a LOT better :D) the gameplay is nothing like Flashpoint...
Its a lot more 'arcadey'.

And, well, Renegade suffered from what I like to call 'Crap-In-House-Engine' syndrome. :D

After a couple of days having a sweetass lan (for 3 people) while playing alot of Codename Eagle, the predessessor to BF1942. I come back and check on a BF1942 site and someone has hacked planes into the single player demo, kickazz. I am downloading it right now, only another 4 hours to go

Oh well...

Ghost Lemur- can you hook a brother up?

I'd love to try a multiplayer beta...

Cheers.

Also, the single player demo is sh!thot...any tips on the best place to biff a rocket at on the tanks? I presume soft juicy underbelly...but hasnt seemed to help me all that much. I cant see reality being 3+ rockets to screw a tank, when the bullets vs body realism is so perfect.

The artillery is fantastic too...I took out so many of the Allied tanks with that thing :) Oh, and biffing grenades under tanks is SO very effective...then getting to the roof to snipe at the assault troops :)

EXTREMELY COOL GAME OVERLOAD.

MP demo comes out on Friday at about 3:00

and shooting tanks in the side (where there is least armor) is easiest to kill em.

I know I know, ive been checking the bf sites every day for the last 2 weeks waiting for a mp demo.

hmm......ok....i think i may be able to get it just before i leave...but it'll cost me :(

Sydog
15-08-2002, 06:54 PM
Cost you, im pretty sure Gameplanet will have a mirror of it, if they dont dont worry binky as its not worth paying for it

swiftynz
15-08-2002, 07:01 PM
yea i was hoping for a gameplanet mirror by friday night / early sat morn. if there is one i'll be sure to grab it if binky leaves on friday. :)
but if not it still could be worth it if its under 50mb. off peak rates are 5cents per mb so still a possibility.

i didn't really like operation flashpoint, controlling a squad isn't something i find fun. mohaa i did enjoy so hopefully i should like this :)

Sydog
15-08-2002, 07:06 PM
It is kickazz, one of the sweetest games ive played lately it Codename Eagle which is the predesessor. I doubt it will be under 50mb as the sp demo was 130mb and the sp demo with planes was 190mb. The beta was around 206mb so I say it would be around about the beta's size.

And it is nowhere like OFP, it is based more on action then realism, although it has a similar feel to MOH so I cant wait, oh and ive already preordered this game tee hee.

There's a good chance that if it's out Friday, I'll get it Friday. I don't mind queueing for a couple of hours to get a spot, see...

codename eagle was soooo f#$king awesome, i used to play it mp soooo much.

kamikaze planes!

the bugs/possibilities with that game are just endless =)

I'd just like to say that the Multiplayer Demo was so goddamned good, I think its the best game I have played ever.

Very very very cool. Playing with 20-32 people, flying planes, driving boats, driving tanks, jeeps and half-tracks...or straight out running and sniping and jumping and diving and and and....

We had a small LAN here last night, 5 people, lots of fun in this game, then when it was down to 3, we carried on, online...niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice...lots MORE fun...we played from about 2pm till 3am, and if it wasnt for my weak body needing sleep, I'd have stayed on there for longer...

VERY cool game.

we played a hell of a lot of it at L3 and yes it certainly rocked :). we were all pretty much team deathmatching though, the objectives were largely ingnored :p.
kamikaze planes mmmmm (even if unintentionally :D).

This game, totally sexed me up @ L3 aye.
Awesome gameplay :D
If somewhat odd weapons modeling (physics wise)
Guess i'm used to quake3/UT/CS weapons....
Swifty - There were objectives?
All i did was run around, steal planes and jeeps and crash them into people :D
Most of the time it wasn't my teammates *blushes*

yes BF1942 totally rocks!!

however, did anybody else install the game and go to play and get a black screen then just exit to windows??

i read up on the forums at their website and apparently it has something to do with using any program to fix the nvida/xp refresh rate. so i uninstalled the prog. i was using and it now works fine.

im sure they'll get it sorted tho - I HATE 60Hz!!:p

SecretSquirrel

Er, must be your system

I have 4 PCs here using RefreshLock and it ran just fine.

Oh, I noticed that Highest detail (minus shadows) in 1024x768 with 2x AA was smooth as a babies bum on my machine...expected it to be a little jumpy...

Then I noticed the video card was not overclocked!!!! Back to 250/520

Ah, have to play it now to see what its like at 310/610

Water cooling will bring more sex on pie...

Ok...if you have the old "black screen then back to windows" problem, remove anything that affects the drivers directly (refresh fixes etc) and use Power Strip, which has its own refresh modification method. This was how Swifty was able to run it.
Works fine for me now.

REFRESH LOCK

SecretSquirrel

But I have a bigger gloryhole.

Anyway...I dont like Powerstrip, and I dont think it does a good job with the GF4s...at least, not mine.

Rivatuner is nice, and it does the refresh thing too...but personally, a simple little program (such as REFRESH LOCK) is the perfect option
