Well, a while ago I was noting a substantial performance decrease when I enable TCQ support on the channel connecting my WD740GD Raptor to my Highpoint 1820 SATA controller.
After corresponding with Highpoint and then taking the issue to Western Digital it appears the WD740GD DOES NOT SUPPORT TCQ.
Here's the response I got from Western Digital:

I apologize for the confusion, but our 74GB Raptor drives do not yet support TCQ. We are still working with the controller card manufacturers to ensure compatibility and support between the controller cards and our drives. We should have an update to this support within the next 2-3 weeks updated to our knowledge base.
