what-up!

I've been doing some looking around the web at "sandwich cooling". Any of you guys do this? Anyone with any tips or examples, pros & cons?
:D

you mean like peltier cooling on video card type?

where are you gonna use it?

it's good on VGA cause you are able to apply heaps of force on the peltier for example.

i think he means applying heatsinks to the back of a vidcard's pcb...

yep - on the back of the card...like a fan on top, and a passive heatsink...like a sandwich!

What's "peltier"? Sorry, I'm a newbie!

The little SMDs (surface mount devices) on the back of the card might hinder the application of a heatsink......
Only card i remember that has a hs on the back is the GA660+, a tnt2pro card from gigabyte.
I've got one lying around somewhere....

peltiers...

i dunno how they work[insert king jackels explanation here], but they are a small slab of ceramic right- with two cables comin out, and you hook em up, and one side goes **** cold and one side goes **** hot.

downside- in order to keep the cold side cool, you need to remove the heat from the hot side, i found out the hard way...

they are named peltiers after the "peltier effect (http://www.google.co.nz/search?q=peltier+effect&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&lr=)" discovered by a smarty man scientist of the same name.
