Just a quick question for anyone that has been lucky enough to use both. Or hasn't used both but wants to take a punt anyway - that's OK too.

Is the new logitech MX900 mouse as good as the MX700 for gaming and general windows tasks?

I was all revved up to buy the 700 but then the 900s started slowly drifting in. The price difference is not huge, I'm just wondering if bluetooth gives any advantage over RF?

It would be nice to have bluetooth to sync up my phone, but not at the expense of gameplay.

Also, is it true that bluetooth messes up your wireless (802.11B/G) connection? I have read some people say it does, some say it does not - anyone got any first hand experence?

mx 700 here 1 week old
love it to pieces not noticing any sort of lag at all here
JB has one as well and raves about it

cant comment on comparison to mx900 though
if your keen for bluetooth just get an adapter they are cheap enough these days

Bluetooth uses the 2.4GHz band so may mess with a few things, dect pnones? 802.11b and other crap too.

I got the MX Duo pack (mx700 and wireless keyboard) and love it.

Hardware wise the mx300, 500 700 and 900 are the same

Shape and button wise the 500 700 and 900 are basically the same, the only difference i knoe of is weight and colour.

I find the mx500 very well ballanced (weight) :)

The advantage of the 900 over the 700 would be the bluetooth hub it comes with.

It can change its freequency somthing like 1000 times per second so it shouldnt interfair with things. I dont know much about how it works though.

So if you want a bluetooth hub why not get the 900.

The 900 has the not only bluetooth but it also has a much faste reaction ime than the 700. Not as good as the 500 but its wireless so you get what you get...

I have an MX700, and have no problems at all in games with response times etc

Sure, it takes a while getting used to it going from corded to cordless, but you get used to it. Plus i can even use it as a remote for movies, next door in the lounge :)

I wouldnt swap it for anything at the moment.

...each to their own though i guess

i'd have to agree with the good reviews of the mx700. i also have the mx duo pack thing, and think that it's great. no lag noticed in gaming.

i've never tried the mx900, but if it's half as good as the mx700 you'll be loving it. just a quick question- do you have (or have any intentions of getting) any other bluetooth devices?

Can't complain about lag with the mx700 - I don't feel it at all.

I can complain that games never seem to pick up the whole contingent of buttons - with BF I can get the two side ones, plus scroll whell/3rd button, and left and right naturally. I can't run the superscrolly buttons and the change application button in it - damnit it would be handy if one could.

Yeah, my laptop and cell phone both have bluetooth. Will probably get an Ipaq 4155 (bluetooth and wifi) in the next 6 months.

If it wasn't for the fact that I am currently syncing my phone via IR I would get a 700 since they are a damn good price now. But I don't want to get one of those then have to buy a bluetooth dongle in a few months anyway. (i'm sure as hell not syncing a PDA over infrared - it would take all week).

Thanks for all the replies so far - I still haven't made up my mind - dammit!

Still have two MX's here rocking along a newer MX518 and an old MX510.

MX518 is a sweet spot for price/performance in a mouse imo.
