:( I have just set up my local area network with 2 nice new 1gigbit cards and a brand new 10/100/1gbits hub/switch. I can only seem to get it up too 100mbs between to XP Pro computers. Any Suggestions.

what cable standard are you using cat5e? or cat5 or cat 6 etc.

with your switch, does it have separate 100/1000mbit ports? I think some switches have a couple of gigabit ports and the rest are 100mbit. Also check your driver settings etc, it may be set to 100mbit instead of 1000.

You where right it was the cables. Why would D-link bundle the wrong cables with the package. A quick drive to get some more cables and it worked at 1gbs (o; Very Cool.

Thanks everyone :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

thats a very good point. why would they do that?

if you complain you should have reasonable ground for some type of refund, or get some free cables or something

Very true. I will try and contact the new zealand vendor or D-Link or D-Link direct. :) Maybe they did it by mistake. Thanks for the idea.

Basically the cables that usually come with a product don't really concern the company. Also gigabit connections are more fussy on cable integrity compared to 100 Mbps.

And you know what ... thats what D-Link said, but they will ship some new cables out to me  .

Maybe i have just changed a procedure in their company by complaining. Its all good. good business.
