i have a socket-7 mobo not sure which type it is
it is currently @ 133MHz

here is a pic of the jumper config...

what do the numbers,
eg. 1-2 mean ?

how much beef can i get outa this ?
and also what is the best jumper-config ?

ne help would b appreciated
thx,

OK, you mean the CPU is @ 133MHz and it is not overclocked yet?

Is it a Pentium 133MHz? In which case the CPU will be running @ an FSB of 66MHz and a multiplier of 2x.

Judging from that pic, 66MHz is the highest Bus speed available. So you will have to resort to multiplier overclocking. I'm not sure if your CPU is locked or not tho.....

The numbers relate to the pins. ie: to get a multiplier of 2x you would terminate pins 2 & 3, and 4 & 5 with the plastic jumper caps. If you are running a 133MHz CPU then 2 & 3, and 4 & 5 will be terminated.
Try going for a 3x multiplier. ie: terminate pins 1 & 2, and 5 & 6. See what happens if the machine doesn't post just clear the BIOS.

the CPU will not be locked. multiplier locks weren't introduced until the P2.

anyway, it would help a lot if you could post a picture of the whole diagram, and try to locate Jumper "D" and take a pic of that too.

infact, do you know what make/model the motherboard is? if so, post it here, as there may be an undocumented 75MHz or 83MHz bus speed setting.

thx guys for yr posts :)

this may help you.

Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Product String: TC430HX
Version String: AA666740-602

this is my first oc ever, so i really dont know much bout it

i came accross a small prob but.
i tried to set the mult to 3.0x and the clock to 66, and when i booted up my comp, i went into bios to check the speed it was at, and it said 100MHz

D is meant to be 1-2, and 5-6
C is meant to be 2-1, and 5-6

here is a layout of my pins, and how i hav tried to do it, i may not hav done it correctly, as im uber n00b atm :(

what i may think the prob is,
is that on D what i think pins # 1 and 4 arent there, there is no pins, its just like the black dots (spacers)

that could b part of the prob, but also when i was tryn to set it to dif. mult and clock speed, it would neva get higher than 133MHz
even when i tried a mult of 2.5x and clock of 66

so i must b doin sumthing wrong

AFAIK, if your board was manufactured by Intel then you won't be able to overclock. :( End of story.

That's just the way Intel has always operated, unfortunately.

Well I tried taking my old Pentium 166Mhz (non-MMX) to 200Mhz via changing the multi from 2.5 to 3 and it listed 0Mhz (this was normal of the Aptiva range) but wouldn't boot into windows. Just my experience.

.... oh yeah, HAHAHAHAHAHA :D

thx for all of yr help :)

Old ones man, surley you have seen many sigs with P4 1.6A @ 2.4Ghz and other such crap....... they are in most cases more oc'able than AMD. Still **** though haha :D

You would have to mess up badly or try REALLY hard to kill anything. It is very safe, If it doesnt work you wait a few seconds a reset the bios and its all good :) There is more chance of killing your pentium than there is of damaging your AMD. those pentiums w/o MMX got damn hot...

Yeah I couldn't even touch the hs on my P166 non-mmx for more then 2 seconds. It was about the size of my v7+ hs as well.
