MS is said to be releasing an early build of Longhorn to MSDN members and any one else willing to pay a small fee to test the software sometime in november/december this year. It will be build 4051, so those wanting to play with the next gen MS OS will be ale to do so legally.
In other news it seems that build 4051 has been leaked into the wild anyway. Maybe part of the plan to get it out to a wider audience to generate interest, or just a coincidence.

Apparently it is quite stable, they just haven't implemented the exciting new stuff yet like the new UI etc. I imagine once they start doing that they will need some major bug tracking to be done.

the real question remains: have they implemented the new file system?
if so, then it really could be worth a lash :D

Yeah supposedly it has. But it's the only system that can be used replacing NTFS and no sign of any FAT.

As far as I've heard the file system hasn't had the funky bits added yet, which is a it of a pity, but then again those probably aren't ready yet for a public testing

The file system will be based on Yukon technology (next version of SQL Server) which is still in beta as well so might be a while before anyone sees a release with that all included.
Whats with the being pedantic about spelling.
