LANthrax 003: November

[Grrr!!]

Yep, the final LANthrax for the year will be on the weekend of 1/2 november. I'll be spamming all previous attendee's inboxes later.

It will be the usual 12-beyond 12 jobbie, and games such as Wolf:ET, BF1942:DC, C&C:Generals, OperationFlashpoint, etc

Anyway, $10, usual venue, and if you can be arsed, register at our site:

Yeah, I was quite angry at those guys at GeekNZ for stealing our weekend. As you would've seen, I dibsed it first on your site :D.

did you tell them you were that weekend? Maybe yah should have.. or maybe they should have checked the aLAN calendar.... damn fools...

Yeah, I talked to Jimminy about it at Ping Zero. He was sorry but said that unfortunately they couldn't change their date.

There is a waikato uni club!!!!!

Why dont Lanthrax and Tcosy (http://tcosy.inspire.net.nz) have a gaming lan at the uni games?
It would make me laugh to see the student association sport reps faces when they give out award for most headshots, BF1942 , CS and HL2 etc... winners etc...

I am sure there must be a chch, otago and akld uni gaming club.

There's no ChCh Uni gaming club.

I considered starting one, but the UCSA are rather unhelpful, because:
- they can't get us a venue
- they can't give us switches
- they can't give us power gear (3-phase etc)
- they can't do anything

....so why bother having a constitution, lots of red-tape, and being forced to use a certain bank just so I can call L3 a Uni club? Waste of time....

( Waaay back before L3 - in the day of UCL, there WAS a Uni club. And they DID get a venue and power gear. But it seems they either now have no money, or just don't care about another potential club - which if it were started, would be one of the largest clubs on campus. )

Tis rather sad really :(.

[edit] I go back EVERY year and ask again - but nothing has changed in 4 years, we still can't get a venue etc. If I'm around Uni again next year though, I'll ask again... just in case...

Techie, I'd actually be up for that ... just for the freaking hell of it.

Anyway, I can just see those uni-games beurocrats faces' now :D.

(Hopes they don't make an issue of the fact that only about 10% of our lanners are from waikato).

20ish. The turnout was pretty aweful.

Remember, it is also quality and not quantity that counts.

Ohhh! It is? I was planning on turning up to this one... don't know now. Might lower the tone of the whole evening :)

Might need to destress after my 317 exam though... we're allowed to bring hookers and beer right?

they tend to be very laid back events, just bring enough hookers (beer may be against venue rules) for everyone :cool:
