Does anyone have any idea what is needed, other than finding some form of drivers for this, and in saying that, finding such drivers for win2k/XP...
I have one to get going and use for a while till I sort out my dodgy PCI one.
Cheers

You shouldn't need drivers for a router. They only use the standard TCP/IP transmission protocol.
My Dynalink router, for example, just works. Even with Linux, Windows and Unix boxes - first time every time. Gotta love routers :).
Are you sure you don't just have a bung protocol on your box? Try re-installing TCP/IP, it actually worked once for me  ;).

Basically, with a router you just:
Plug the router into your home LAN ( or your home LAN into the router's hub if it's got one ). If you've only got 1 PC using the net, then just plug it directly into its NIC.
Power the router.
Set it up as the default gateway ( this varies between OS's ).
For example, in XP or ME you'd just run the networking wizard, and tell it to connect to the net over the LAN.
You can manually choose the router as the default internet gateway by looking at your network connections properties.
Then select the TCP/IP protocol's properties.
....and set the default gateway to the IP of your router! :)
That's it :).
This is a common config ( my box ;) ):

Hey KJ...
Two things, this is an older router, so I assumed it was a little odd.
By drivers I meant Config software...I did assume I could just do it web-style...but the REAL problem is I dont know what IP this thing uses.
Is there a simpler way to find out what IP something has other than trying to ping every damn address?
I assumed that its IP would be set to 192.168.0.1 ... do you think I need to have a static IP for this to go?
The software I have to configure the unit looks like this :

AFAIK by default, routers are configured to use 192.168.1.254 in new zealand.... all the routers i have worked with have come with that ip preset...
if you have less than 10 computers then yeah, you may as well just go with static ip's...

Secretsqurriel do you still have the router? I have one of these lying around as well but cant get it working. Aparently it does not have a web based GUI.
I emailed accton and SMC and they have no idea about this router, it is almost it never existed. my theory is that we have found hardware that has fallen off a back of a truck or it is one those protptypes no one knew about.

Can u telnet into it? I pissed about with a Nokia NI500 for a long time but eventually nutted out it's internal programming syntax and changed it's IP and log in settings. Try estabilishing a telnet session and then do a RFC2364 on it's ass and u'll be rocking.

I cant remember how far I got with this thing, and yes, I still have it...
Telnet...yes well I'd have to have an IP for that, wouldnt I (telnet noob)

does it give you a dhcp addy? if it does the default ateway will be its ip, and you telnet to it

Hey SS, any chance of sending that router to me? I can hook it up to a spare NIC and try to figure it out for ya...

if you're running windows xp or something, you oculd try letting it set the ip addresses automatically, and then use ye olde "ipconfig" command in a command prompt....
the ip of your gateway will be the ip of the router
