I just built my computer with these parts;
• Pentium4 2.4ghz, 800mhz FSB ht retail box c/w cooling fans
• GIGABYTE GA-8KNXP,Intel 875P 800FSB dual Channel Mem, dual power supply S-ATA, ATA133 Raid ,Intel 1gb LAN, Firewire 1395, USB2.0
• Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB ATA-100 7200 rpm
• 512 mb DDR 400 MHz PC3200 (x2)
• Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1 DE Retail box – 6 Channels
• Radeon 9700np 128 mg
Everything seems to be running fine I don’t get any beeps when I power it on, but my monitor doesn’t seem to work.
It comes up and says that it cant find a link with the computer
I have tried 2 different monitors. 19inc mag and a 17inch pc company monitor
Both aren’t working(workign but displaying the no signal thing)
So I thought it might be the graphics card so I put in my gf4mx420 64mg
Still the same problem and I can’t seem to find anything that helps me fix it
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Try resetting the CMOS on your motherboard.
If you have a PCI videocard around, try that - your mobo might have come with a DOA AGP slot.
I presume you've tried your new videocard and monitor on an old/other PC, just to make sure they're fine?

Yeah, thought that was the case ( brand new bits ) :(. If you've tried your monitor/videocard in another computer and they were fine, then they're not the problem. At least that eliminates 2 of the parts ;).
Resetting the CMOS is normally done with a small jumper on the motherboard. You set it from the normal position to 'reset', then back again. This just resets the BIOS memory of the motherboard. Every motherboard puts that jumper in a different place - have a read through your motherboard manual, it should give instructions. It may even still be in the 'reset' position ( a machine with the jumper in this position won't boot up ).
If you can't find your motherboard manual, you can download a PDF version here:

So did those suggestions work or not?
This is not a common problem, I merely suggested a few possible options - there are no doubt hundreds more possible options.
When you go to power on the machine, do fans spin at all? Can you hear the hard-drives spinning up?

cool :)
I just remember that trick because I once bought a mobo and it came with the CMOS jumper in the 'clear' position.
( I'm a g33k - I thoroughly inspect every piece of hardware before introducing it to my rig, including checking every jumper, heatsink-fan and electrical part - only the best for my baby, hehehe ;) )
