"I've received some information regarding the NV30, NV31 and some insight of the NV40 Nvidia is working on. First off though, the NV30 is AGP 8X and it's still a go with 900MHz DDR memory. Also what is now known is that the NV30 is multi chip capable. The number of chips is an odd number. That's all I can say without giving out the exact number. I'll say this though. It's under 8. With regards to FSAA performance the NV30 has a zero (0) performance cost using 4X FSAA. Specifications have been discussed and the NV30 is able to churn out 16 textures/pixel per pass. The NV30 also uses a 4-1 colour compression technique. Nvidia has explained to us/me that the performance we all will see with the NV30 is about double the performance of the Xbox/GF Ti4600. Another feature that is not known to the public is the use of IEE 1394 or known as Firewire will be on NV30 video cards. What this feature is for wasn't discussed thoroughly and all we know is that it has to do with the hardware mpeg2 acceleration built into the chip."
That was a post on 3dchipset.com that got pulled.....
here's what they replaced it with:
Solomon - I pulled the news post due to the request of our source and not from Nvidia as the information was too accurate and could be pointed back to it/her/him. Yeah, like we would fold if Nvidia's great PR clan told us to remove it! LOL I respect his decision and pulled the information.
Take it with a pinch of salt, but its looking pretty damn good so far :D

Now I don't wasnt to spen any money on a GF4 cause it will seem slow in comparison to this baby.

Happy GF4 Ti 4600 owner, me'h. Be like me and hire it out to a cool cyber cafe and earn money off it :D
Not too good for the Radeon 9700 then

I'm always in a state of hardware flux anway  4200 best bang for buck IMHO so I won't mind upgrading at the end of the year :D

1) It's miles away - it probably won't be out this year.
2) By then the Ti4600's won't exactly be $1000 parts.
3) It'll probably cost a bomb. Multi chip? Totally new architecture? Yeilds probably won't be all that hot....
Thanks for the info, SP - the only thing I didn't know was the odd number of chips.... which is strange....

Looks like multi chip is back in boon :) 3DFX stuff here ... heh heh, hey pal, my new video card has more GPUs than my quadruple Xeon rig. Lol :D...
And it's a crack up too, I have more video card ram than some peoples SYSTEMs ... ahhh video cards...
I wonder if sound cards will be the next big thing with huge amounts of ram and heatsinks and all the do .. lol :D

I doubt this iteration of NV30 will be multichip except @ professional level.
If that.
R&D costs would be huge.
Remember how long it took for the VSA-100 to come to market :(
*pats voodoo5 5500*
And think of rampage and sage
*sighs*
Looks like they will be including more 3DFX technology one would hope, considering GF4 AA well, i still prefer my voodoo5's AA over it.

Just to expand on my first post.
NV31 comes out one month after the NV30 and will not suffer the fate of the MX by branding it GeForce 4. NV31 line will feature everything the NV30 has but just be lower clocked cards.
NV40:
600 million polys per second
4 Gigapixel fillrate
Like everything @ this stage, take it with a pinch of salt.

A one word accusation. All evidence and credibilty included. Is that correct?
If not, feel free to tell us WHY you think the above is vapourware, and also feel free to give any evidence of that ?fact?.

Well, everything is pretty early so the specs may or may not be the same... and I think vapourware is bit rough on NV... since it is nothing like bitboy.
