I will be starting a site soon, offering pre made PCB's/Kits/Built Kits for case modding, kits would include, HDD activity meters, VU meters, fan controllers, paralell port interfaces, computer controlled fan speed kits(control fan speeds via software), LCD Interfaces, and quite possibly 5" touchscreen LCD's that can be used for selecting anything in your favourite programs, anything you can think of and I can design a circuit for, limitless possibilities.

PCB's will be made professionally, circuits designed on currently availible/New zealand suppliers, parts.

Many other sites offer circuits, but the ic's required are generally not availible in NZ, altho those circuits can be modified.l

Any thoughts would be appreciated, who would be interested in such products? who would be intereted in stocking such products for me?

I also suspect I will be able to supply things like EL cable at a fraction of standard costs, by making your own inverter and simply buying the cable...need to source the cable cheeap tho.

..just ideas, gosh, need something to fill my spare time.

Sounds cool :)

Let us know when you have more info.

Sure, I'm interested. Software fan control by USB would be sweet. Cheap EL would be cool too.

Ummm.... EL cable cheap by making the inverters, and getting the cable cheap?

Sounds like you haven't actually priced anything out yet?

LOL - dude, it's probably the cable that costs the real dough.... :p

Well $75 for 1.5m and a invertor, can build the invertors for $14 and can get EL cable for $17 a metre, you do the maths.

and if can source the transformers somewhere better than dick smith, it;ll be even cheaper.

$31 for 1metre of EL cable and a invertor..
$38 for 1.5metre of EL cable and a invertor...
$62 for 2 metre of EL cable and a invertor.
$76 for 3metres of '' '' '' '' '' ''

somewhat cheaper than $75? for only 1.5metres.

and yus, i have a designed a circuit, but have no EL cable to test it with, EL cable requires 100v@1600hz.

inverting transformer pulsed at 1600hz by 555 timer, 100v AC output .. wollah, one invertor.

arrgh why do ppl buy stuff from DSE, try SouthIslandComponents http://sicom.co.nz/ ,or Radcliff Electrical. They will be cheaper than DSE.

What about this -

http://www.dansdata.com/jremote.htm

but as thbe man says, do your own from here -

http://www.oatleyelectronics.com/remote.html

4 swiches = power; reset; turn on neons; turn on extra fans etc, etc ....

(This is something I'm working on. Very slowly :( )

P.S. THINK ABOUT USING BLACK PCBs !!!!!

P.p.s. I'd be keen on some of the toys your thinkin about ....

R U for real?????? What are you building a power supply for a fridge?

A Big nuggety transformer and a noisy switch? That would produce so much noise your PC wouldn't be able to hear itself think!!! A 555 timer c'mon! This is 2002 not 1982

Grrr!!

If you're going to be making PCBs etc, can you produce reasonably priced wireless network options.

LCD touchscreens would be really cool.

hmmm....how r u gonna get these touchscreens working?

HaydenNZ

I need to source them cheap enough first, Non touch screen LCD's would be alot easier to source..but kinda defeats the purpose, unless u wanted to show stats or something, im investigating.

Lcd's arnt cheap.. thats going to be the problem.

Depends on the LCD, theres many ways you can communicate with them.

Nice to see a new modding shop in NZ soon. ;)

Feel free to contact me if you need any help with the site.

Right now my dad is working on a micro controller that when the computer turns on the fans go full voltage for a second then senses the temp of the prob displays the tempurature then adjusts the fans voltage acordanly to the temp :) his emulater arrived last week

sounds like it might be useful to u when its finished(ages away), unless u already have something better
