I was just talking to a smaller business, they currently run their internet over dial up.

They are with Xtra, it costs them a total of $250 a month for the phone line charge and xtra flat rate.

Every afternoon inbetween 3 to 6pm they are unable to send emails. The servers don't respond, Xtra's explanation, tough luck, it's a business plan and business have limited bandwidth.

Basically, you can't run a business without email and now it's getting to a point where it's really bad and it can't go on like this.

Like, you can't send a 10k email in the afternoon's.

So, I'm just wondering, what other plans are there.

Telecom is offering JetStream600 for 200$ a month + 18c/MB.

IMO, those are quite expensive prices.

Can anyone recommend any other service. I don't know jack about business plans. They can't use a residential plan cause telecom won't let them.

But what about wireless? they are in North Harbour Industrial Estate.

They do about 400MB of taffic a month on current dialup. Speeds of 128kbit upstream and downstream are more than acceptable.

If they are with Clear, have a look at Tempest (aka High Speed Internet LOL)

We pay $400 ish a month for up to 2MB/s at unlimited traffic.

good download speeds to maxes out at about 450K/s

NB: Tempest = ADSL bascially

Try these plans:

They'd probably be your best bet.

yeah, I checked with their database and you can't get it in that area till next year.

also, it seems to me that other cities in NZ have better wireless or other fast internet service than Auckland? quite strange.

I'd check out TelstraClear, their packages for business seem good. It's just a matter of looking around and finding the best deal, and TelstraClear business does the whole country not just Wellington and Christchurch (they use the Telecom exchange when they have to).

Good hunting :)

cool,
yeah, I'll contact TelstraClear,
it looks pretty fair that they don't care if you are business or residential, unlike xtra.
