Yep - looks the one via used at computex (and then got in trouble with ATi about).

And external psu?? don't know what you're talking about N

Radeon 9700 external power plug confirmed

YOU CAN SEE authentic pictures of the Radeon 9700 on Chinese sites like this one, and we also know that the R300 will need an extra power plug so that it can float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
We assumed that All in Wonder cards will definitely need external power because of its TV tuner and as it's an extremely complicated chip with 107 million transistors but we learned differently.

It was easy to assume that even Radeon 9700 would need external power to be able to work simply as this chip will have about 50 million transistors more than TI 4600 chip, and is still the fastest chip on market.

Some of our sources a blink away from ATI said that the external power plug will be similar to the power plug that is used on floppy drives.

They said that the card needs external power because of limitations of AGP power standards with 107 million chips way too much for AGP 2.0 standard.

For those that can remember Voodoo 5500 cards, that also used this external power and worked just fine.

Radeon 9700 will be the fastest card on market for a few months at least until NV30 arrived later this year. But as we said R300 will move to a 130 nanometer process and will be called Radeon 10 000 and obviously have a higher clock speed than the 150 nanometer Radeon 9700 which is due to launch any day now or two.

Still, can ATI manage to ship cards in early September as initially planned? µ

Isn't that why AGP8X has come along?

Can't spot any external power plugs in those pics.

ATI Radeon 9700 to be clocked at 315MHz [b]

[b]Fastest card for this summer could boast up to 15,000 3DMarks

ATI’S RADEON 9700 will be introduced very soon now and we have some performance information that we can share with you.
ATI, as well as its partners, is very optimistic about this card and now it seems we can say their optimism in not unfounded.

With eight pipelines, the card will deliver very nice performance figures and we learned that it should be clocked at 315MHz, which is obviously the fastest speed that ATI can guarantee to its partners. We are sure that the company will also introduce cards clocked at lower speeds, under a slightly different name, though we expect the LE label to be dropped.

We expect ATI to use an Nvidia-style number nomenclature and to add some kind of number instead of the unsexy LE on the name of its cards.

Anyhow, don’t forget that all that Matrox could manage with its Paraphernalia was 220MHz and their chip is far less complex than ATI’s one. 300MHz seems to be the magical barrier for the 150 nanometer process and ATI was able to pass just above that. Nvidia planned to use this speed with its Geforce 4 TI 4600, we understand, but then, before launch, decided to stick with 300MHz.

As for performance, we learned that cards based on the 9700 should deliver a magnificent 15,000 3DMarks and will be able to beat Nvidia’s fastest offering for this summer by a few thousand in this very popular test. Nvidia’s best performance is between 10,000 and 11,000 depending on the configuration.

Since we learned that the first reviews will appear after the official presentation we can still only wonder whether ATI will be able to deliver these cards in September as planned. In the past, missing delivery-date promises has been ATI’s prime problem. µ

Any idea what that PCI card is doing/does in those pics??

it most likely one of those cards which checks the speed of the PCI bus and that's it, to show that it's running at 33MHz while the FSB is 200.
anyone care to share another explanation

I think Gh0s7 L3mUr was talking about the actual introduction of the AGP 8X slot itself. ;) ie: AGP 8X will be released around the time that the KT400 is released.

He should have said: AGP 8X is going to be introduced after the KT400 is released and will be available on both AMD and Intel mobos.

You're a naughty boy Gh0s7 L3mUr, causing this confusion. :p

I didn't see any power connector either...
I can't wait to get my hands on a KT400 board! AGP8X, mmmmmmm, DDR400, mmmmmmmm, Serial-ATA(?), mmmmmmm, looks like it's time to ask the boss for some overtime!!!

from the chinese site I've read that R9000 may come with 300/300 or 275/275.... and there will be a LE version I think... So basically R9000 is the same as R8500.

Looks like a "port 80" or post diagnostic card. Displays the hex result codes that the BIOS send out during POST.
