Free forum host or Php bulletin board ?

Hi

Is there something like UBB or PHP forum, bulletin board that are free.
So i can create a web site talking about HL2 :P.

phpBB (http://www.phpbb.org) as SP says is free and open source. Would also be the most popular and is rather easy to set up and use. But please remember to keep it updated or it will get hacked at some stage if it's anywhere on a google search.

Used to use phpBB integrated with PHP Nuke on my site. At that time, I got it from www.bbtonuke.com . However, if I remember correctly, www.phpnuke.org has integrated phpBB with the official phpNuke software, which would make it really useful to you if you haven't created the site ;)

If not, get phpBB standalone or go to a free host. I think there should be free hosts that use phpBB? (Or maybe not.)

Also Invision isn't half bad. However I still prefer phpBB, but it's a matter of preference. :)

Yeah invision boards are grreat :) Pretty user friendly and not too hard to set up :)

As far as I know ezboard is still free actually, we created some forums there for friends just a few days ago... full of popups though.

head the warnings others have made about phpbb and security fixes :) .. IPB's more secure imo.

What I need is some free forums host, that will let me create my private forums for clan members without any monthly fees.

The php, opensource etc is the software that you creates your own forums, and you actually need to find a host for the forums.

Update: After 1 hour I have found bravenet.com the service is free but the board have plan feature and lots of pop-ups and banners. It will do the job for the HL2 clan forum.

Theres not much in the way of free services around for forums becuase of the large amount of bandwidth they can consume, considered running it on your own PC if you have DSL or Cable ?

I have no idea what the deal is but I think that JSG have free forums for clans.

There is some dude from SS clan who offers hosting for free of invision boards. do a google for free hosting invision power boards or something. I'll post here if i find it.
