Hey,
I’m new to the whole overclocking thing
But I wana buy a new computer with water cooling
And wana see what kind of prices you guys come up with and what components are best suited for my computer

It will be mainly for gaming

I already have
Monitor
Radeon 9700
Cd writer and dvd
Floppy disk drive

This I want to be included
Laser mouse
Full setup water cooling
Case that supports water cooling
At least 512ddr ram
CPU brand doesn’t matter

I’m not sure if I posted in the right place so fell free to move this
But I want to buy this computer to over clock with water cooling
And I want components that are suited for over clocking

Thanks in advance

1. Welcome to the forums, i aint seen ya around, so welcome
2. Theyre not laser mice, sorry ;) and theyre called optical
3. As for for a case, if you can, get a tower where the PSU doesnt sit right above the CPU... major suckage... full tower is my suggestion :)

I'd suggest a AMD Barton 2500+ CPU, PC3700 DDR,

or a P4 2.4c and PC3700 DDR

im not watercooling yet, i wish to, but realise it can be expensive, though with a video card and monitor already, youve cut out the biggest parts of most budgets :D

thats my $0.05

im sure others can comment or whatever :)

I assure you, there is no laser anywhere inside, outside, or probably even beside your mouse. And just in case you think I'm being a d1ck just for the hell of it, if you still call it a laser mouse, you're gonna have one hell of a time knowing what you're doing when it comes to overclocking and watercooling.

Sorry I meant optical

Can we have no more replies about the mouse it doesn’t help
I don’t think I will have a hard time over clocking so no need to worrie about that

I’m here to get a few ideas on components ect

Full meaning watercooled cpu, or cpu and video card, or cpu, video card, mobo?

System compontents (around $1600ish):
------------------------------------------------------------
CPU: Intel P4 2.4C 800mhz FSB
MOBO: Abit IC7-G MAX II
RAM: Mushkin 512MB PC3500 Level 1 233 Dual Pack ( 2 x 256MB )
PSU: Enermax FMA465 430 Watt ATX - Adjustable Speed
CASE: DarkRider black ATX server case with 3 x cooling fans
MOUSE: Logitech MX-500 & Ratpadz GS mousing surface

Notes / alternatives:
MOBO: The MAX III (new revision) of the IC7-G should be available soon, also the cheaper (slightly less features, same potential/speed) IS7-G is a option.
CASE: maybe go for the FULL tower version or the Silverider (alu)
RAM: level 2 will be available soon (better memory timings)

Water cooling stuff (the rest of the $$$)
---------------------------------------------------------------

CPU WATER BLOCK: not sure on this, something with 1/2 inch barbs for P4 (socket 478)
VIDEO WATER BLOCK: ??
MOBO WATER BLOCK: ??
PUMP: Ehiem 1048
RADIATOR: Black Ice Extreme Radiator (1/2" barbs)
HOSING & MISC: Flexihouse around $8 /meter, house clamps, t joints etc

Notes / alternatives:
RADIATOR: head down to the local car wrecker and pickup a copper heater core radiator, around $10

....................

So there's a bit of an idea... you really should / need to get down and look into this and do some research for yourself rather then asking for a cookie cutter solution cause there isn't one that's perfectly suited to what you want.

Have a look through the case gallery thread and look for past threads about watercooling too.

;)

There are so many combinations it's just not worth doing it this way. It's already been suggested but how about you tell us what you want, and the prices.

We will then give lots of feedback like, change this for that, or you can get those cheaper from.....

I am pretty sure OCNZ still make the same profit vs time spent by selling retail here, as to selling through Starlyte etc. So it is less hassle to order through an OCNZ reseller.

And also, if priced up from PCgear, well, nuff said.

But yeah, the main question is do you want to go AMD or P4.

If you want to just get insane OC, go the p4 route. If you want a slighty lower OC, but much better performance money wise, ie spend the other 200 on a 120gb hdd. Go the barton route.

Styles also has a "complete" watercooling kit that should be quite handy to something like this.

For the watercooling kit you should not buy a kit. get the parts seperatly and get a radiater from a pick a parts place.

Honda civics have neat sized heater cores that are 100% copper.

Thanks for the replies guys

Im thinking of getting a P4 2.4c 800fsb 512 ram and all that
It will most likely be an abit or asus mobo

What water cooling kit would u recommend for this set up?
Im unsure on which case/tower I want at the moment and would love to hear what everyone recommends

As for buying water-cooling setup in parts
Will in be cheaper?
id prefer it in a kit so i know that iv got everything

For water cooling I want to be able to cool my video card, CPU, ram mostly and whatever the hell else u can cool with it

What are the dangers associated with water cooling and how easy are they to set up.

Thanks for your time
Ps: if you guys need anther other information just let me know.

My advice would be, read up more on watercooling. From your replys, it seems that you do not know much about watercooling.

I would suggest
http://forums.overclockers.com.au

At least, find out what is needed. CPU blocks, gpu blocks ,radiator etc.
Filling/Bleeding , Layout....and so on

I am sure most of the people here spent weeks or months reading up on watercooling before taking the plunge.

Watercooling is pretty safe if done properly but if it is not done properly, one of the most common problem is leakages.

I would hate to see a new system dead.

I'm a watercooler - and trust me, BUY THE PARTS ;). Buying it in parts WILL be cheaper if you get a car hearercore, and you will get a much better system. If you buy a computer watercooling radiator, buying parts will be more expensive - but again, you'll get a better system.

Cooling RAM is a waste of time. A COMPLETE waste of time. You will get NO more performance, and it will just waste money. There is a good reason none of the members here ( that I know of ) cool their RAM with either watercooling - or even a fan. Video card RAM is a different matter because of the much higher clock speeds though.

Cooling 'whatever the hell you can cool' is also a bad idea. Because you can ( and people do ) cool:
- CPU
- Northbridge ( motherboard chipset )
- GPU
- GPU RAM
- System RAM
- PSU
- Hard drives
....and you'll be spending half a grand or more just on the waterblocks if you want to complete that list!

Watercooling your CPU gives the biggest advantage - with much better performance than a HSF. Cooling your GPU, Northbridge and GPU RAM also give reasonable improvements in performance - but more importantly, they reduce the number of fans in your computer ( and hence also the noise it makes ;) ).

Most people here would probably go for GPU/GPU/GPU-RAM, and leave the rest of the PC with just heatsinks ( PSU's have fans, but watercooling them is a little more dangerous than other parts of a computer ).

As for the dangers of watercooling - well... there aren't as many as you'd think. Leaking or your pump dying is very bad, but then - so is your CPU fan dying on an air-cooled rig, and you don't worry about that. And if you do as we're all saying and buy a quality pump separately ( kitsets tend to come with cheap ones ), that second point just isn't very likely to happen.

The reason people are giving you stick ( myself included ), is because overclocking and watercooling WILL void your warranty and MAY kill computer hardware. And if done without the right knowledge, you can wind up with a very dead computer and no chance of getting a replacement from a store. The LAST thing any of us want to see is a new guy taking our advice a bit over the top when he doesn't really understand everything, and winding up with a big bill.

That said, if you're just new to here ( but not to PC's ), then rock on - cos watercooling IS worth it, especially for the noise improvements :).

Thanks a lot jackal that post really helped
I think ill just cool my video card and cpu

Im not to keen on buying parts id rather have a full kit.
Unless someone can help out and show me exactly what I need
Im not sure if im allowed to post this link(if im not delete it )
Anyway this is kind of what I want I think someone suggested it

http://www.stylespc.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=2044&cat=130&page=1

As for the case I want to go for this one cause I like the look and it’s not to pricy
Would this be computable with some sort of water-cooling?

http://www.stylespc.com/xcart/customer/product.php?productid=2145&cat=301&page=1

I have a sound knowledge with all the hardware components and have built a computer before, I have just never tried to water cool.

If you guys don’t think ill be up for water cooling
What other methods of cooling would u recommend and how much is it going to cost me? and what sort of results can i expect

Thanks everyone for your fast and informative posts
