View Full Version : PixelIce Attachment - Help Rqd

Ok, had a last minute hitch with the PixelIce hold-down attachment - it won't wotk with < GF3 cards, as the barbs obscure the mounting holes (doh!). Three options:

1. Do nothing - you old-skool non-GF4 FREAKS!
2. Redesign the hold-down attachment
3. Re-orient the barbs so that they are not parallel with the mobo anymore.

I like 3. It is easiest. However, if I went with 3, the upshot would be that the barbs would face your case panel, but I am confident the hose would make the corner back to the pump/CPU block. I will also make it optional for the barbs to face 45 degrees (e.g. halfway between (not gutter and stars) the two positions).

I need YOUR thoughts on this.

Here is an advanced sketch I drew up over the last hour or so to illustrate the point:

The barbs facing the top of the card are best. It makes things simple when running the waterblock inline from the CPU.

I'd say it would all depend on what the winners of the blocks have a their graphics card.

i would go for the top one cause it's inline with the GPU.

Sorry, i didn't realise it was "obscure Tuesday"?

The top one?

I assume you mean the work of art with a cross beside it (note: all three have top drawn above them, and two are at the TOP).

_N_ - a GPU is square - thus being "inline with it" gives four possible options.....pleas be more specific if possible :)

I shall clarify my question also:

IS having the barbs facing -45 or-90 (as shown in the two right-hand pics) acceptable to you all

Yes?
No?
Comments?

k, personally, i would preffer it at 90° , don't like the idea of 45°.

As long as you can connect the hoses up without them getting in the way is the main idea.

LOL... obscure tuesday :D

not sure on the 45 idea... wouldn't particularly suit me, but the (good) 90 would work fine i reckons... maybe just offer some optional 90 degree hose joiners for the peeps that want the hoses to go/face the other way (which would prolly suit me).

Some people won the blocks from you. So I was just meaning that if they've got <GF3 they could be annoyed if they couldn't use it.

That is if you went for Option 1 which you probably won't be. :)

Who? You mean me? :D

Yes I am one of those GF3 Freaks :D

You know Tojja if you force me to get a GF4, my missus will still marry me, but only so she can have the share pleasure of devorcing my sorry a$$.

I thought with that attachment mechanism it was possible to attach the block either way? Otherwise go with 90 (where's the damn degrees button  ), it seems to be the concensus (sp?). :)

Right here: °

And again: °

For example: 3°C

:p

( Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map..... here be dragons ;) )

don't waste your time going Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map........................... blah blah blah, cna't find it cause it's too smal, scroll some more, change this, change that..... boring, stuff this....................

when you can do this:

alt 0 1 7 6
°

or

alt 1 6 7
º

but the second one doesn't come out in some software, so i use the alt 0176,

don't you guys know your codes, :D :D ??

memememe! Please _N_, pick me!!!!

What is the ascii code for "howz about we get the f**k back on topic"?

*deep breath*

*regains composure*

*sigh*

I give up on trying to fight "Obscure Tuesday". Time to join it.

"So you guys are all ok with 90? 90 is good? And the thingee will do the trick? Great. I'll be throwing in whatyamacallits as well, but people with some cards wont be able to use them. you know who you are - sorry" :)

I have high hopes for "Precision Wednesday"

>>What is the ascii code for "howz about we get the f**k back on topic"?

here is the code:
alt 104 alt 111 alt 119 alt 122 alt 32 alt 97 alt 98 alt 111 alt 117 alt 116 alt 32 alt 119 alt 101 alt 32 alt 103 alt 101 alt 116 alt 32 alt 116 alt 104 alt 101 alt 32 alt 102 alt 117 alt 99 alt 107 alt 98 alt 97 alt 99 alt 107 alt 32 alt 111 alt 110 alt 32 alt 116 alt 111 alt 112 alt 105 alt 99

maybe have a poll on how many people can use your current design, and you might see that it's only a handful of people, and out of them only a couple might wan't to have it watercooled. So 90° would be fine,

/edit "howz about we get the ****back on topic"
found some mistakes: ;)

you left out a space between **** and back.
you also didn't use asterixes you put the letters instead :p

but other than that it is all good:)

It's the only way to type a password if someone changes your keyboard arrangement (that happened to me, stupid DVORAK layout).

Ghost Lemur - you will have your block next Friday ;)

Things with LiquidCC are ALL GOOD at the moment, after recently commencing a relationship with a major engineering firm.

Result = 2-3 day turnaround of up to 500 units.

At a better price

And a better finish - especially base flatness.

Aiiiight

Needless to say I am ecstatic.

Got my Crome BlackIce II rad sitting on my desk at the moment and it could do with a friend. :D
Hoping to have my H2O setup completed by L3#10. lol
